A little bit of surrealism for you today. A nude woman lays in a garden, comfortably exhibiting her sexuality. Playfully, an enormous metal butterfly rests on her forearm. She dangles a huge metal pear with windows on it. Ideas, maybe? The pear also bestows wisdom and health. In some Christian contexts, the it symbolizes the Virgin and Child, likely because of its sweetness. In the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, the pear tree symbolizes inner peace.
Somehow Almost Nobody Noticed Rihanna at Art Basel – Rihanna managed to make an extremely incognito visit to Art Basel in Switzerland on Friday, three days after the fair’s VIP preview. Accompanied by her boyfriend, Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel (whose family is behind Dubai’s Jameel Arts Centre), she browsed Gagosian and David Nolan‘s booths, and even stopped to take a photo of a wooden sculpture by Richard Artschwager. But several cryptic tweets and one hastily shot photo
I mean, really! As an artist myself and someone who represents other artists, I freakin' struggle every day to sell a painting. It's so frustrating! To give you an example, when we do some art festivals, the rage, the frustration, the sadness, the defeat, and at the same time the drive, that we get, to see people buy a ten dollar hot dog and a seven dollar beer, and not buy a gorgeous card with your art on it for three or five dollars, is insane. You know, if people can't
Being able to help out is a great feeling, but being able to help out doing what you love, is a blessing. Last week Alvaro José donated "Bella" to West Elm Palm Beach Gardens, for their silent auction benefitting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The artist himself is diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, so for him it is especially close to the heart to be able to help in any way to such a great cause. "Bella" is the painting of a cancer survivor. Not anyone in particular,
It's been a while since I've written about our mobile art gallery A Truckload Of Art. That's because, most of the time, I am frustrated at how difficult sometimes things can go. During the summer months Florida is hot. When I say hot, I mean extremely HOT. On top of that, it rains almost every day, and to top it all off, we got the infamous zica virus. Those were really tough months for us. A mobile art gallery sounds great, and it is. It's just that the concept is so
A Truckload of Art held a Private Exhibit at the Ritz Carlton Residences in Singer Island Palm Beach for a group of thirty-one art lovers and collectors. The event lasted three hours, during which, people enjoyed full bodied cabernet, and deliscious french cheeses, while they walked around looking at paintings, photographs, and one of a kind accessories. A percentage of all proceeds went to A Place Of Hope Foundation. Four pieces were sold. Two paintings of artist Alvaro Jo

Yes, we launched the week of Art Basel! We were running out of time, and but we totally pulled through. This is me painting the walls where we would hang beautiful pieces of art and photography. This is all the art that was going to go on the walls. We only had about two hours before opening time, and still so much to do... Measuring the Art to make sure that the display looked fantastic.! We finally opened it was a SUCCESS!!!! We sold two pieces which gave us much encour
