Moon Gazing At Venus
Influenced by Picasso’s period of cubism, and surrealism and De Kooning’s abstract expressionism, Martha paints biomorphic shapes. Martha is great at ambiguously blending figure and ground in her pictures while dismembering, re-assembling and distorting her figures in the process.
The Artist paints the Moon representing human kind. It gazes at Venus, standing tall and radiant, representing Beauty, Youth, Pleasure, Possessions. In the background, the Artist paints an Old Woman, tired, on her knees...forgotten. She paints our obsession with beauty and youth.
Venus beseeches us to indulge our senses and revel in the beauty of our world. This painting has much movement and color, femininity, as to portray a dance.
Paintings are also available in prints on paper, metal, and acrylic and in various sizes. This is all done on special order.
