LOOKING FOR LOVE

Influenced by Picasso’s period of cubism, and surrealism and De Kooning’s abstract expressionism,  Martha paints biomorphic shapes. Martha is great at ambiguously blending figure and ground in her pictures while dismembering, re-assembling and distorting her figures in the process.

The artist here paints a young man, going a little crazy, and all over the place, trying to find love.  This painting in many ways is a commentary of how people now are bombarded by technology and dating apps and how much things have changed in the dating world.  Inspired by true characters.
